Josh Johnson or Adam Wainwright

Postby murphy0334 » Fri Jul 22, 2011 11:46 am

Its a keeper league h2h league points. I have both Wano and JJ and want to package one of them with another keeper for an elite keeper. Which one should I hold onto?

Wano is coming off tommy john and looks like he will be ready for spring training. But coming off TJ surgery is he going to be able to throw both of his breaking pitches as well?
JJ has shown no structural damage in MRIs but has made no progress over the last month or so. And with no news coming out it worries me.

Which one should I deal and which one should I hold on to?

Thanks all for your help.

Welcome aboard!

This is a tough one, because you are totally selling low on both of them with JJ having a little more upside.

If you can hold on to both and stash both, I would do it.

If you had to deal one, then I would deal Wainwright, but only if the right real came along.

I would love to keep both and not take a chance. The problem with that is i am middle of the pack so I can try to make a run this year or I can build for next year. I can only keep 7 for next year and I would hate for 2 of those keepers to be huge question marks. League format we start 1 at each positiion (this means we have a lf, cf, and rf) and can only play 2 rp per day. Oh, and we play on ESPN where SP is a key to winning. We have changed scoring a little so that it pitchers dont completely own the league. Here are my potential keepers and again can only keep 7
C- Victor Martinez
2b- Utley
3b- A. Rodriguez
CF- Victorino
SP- Shields
SP- JJ
SP- Wano
SP- Gallardo
Rp- Wilson

You really need a headliner keeper bat badly. V-Mart A-Roid and Utley are all on the decline. I'd trade either pitcher (or both) to try and secure a stud bat in his 20s. I think JJ brings more trade clout but wouldn't be surprised if Waino were the safer choice in the future. TJ surgery and recovery is pretty routine now. Many guys come back better.

Wainwright has proven to be more healthy. Think about what Tim Hudson did when he came back. Lights out!
