Was just offered the above trade. Below is my roster:
14-team 5x5 H2H Yahoo! NON-KEEPER league c: Soto 1b: Miguel Cabrera 2b: Ellis ss: Andrus 3b: Zimmerman OF: Justin Upton, Chris Young, Snider Utl: Ibanez, Bonifacio BN: Hosmer, Morse, Tabata (DL) SP: Hamels, Billinglsley, Ian Kennedy, Cueto, Vazquez, Peavy, Beachy, Dickey RP: Valverde, Perez, Izzy Stat categories: Hitters: R, HR, RBI, SB, BA Pitchers: W, SV, K, ERA, WHIP
In most cases, this would be a no brainer, but since I already have Zimmerman and am pretty weak at SP after Hamels, I'm a little hesitant to pull the trigger on this.
I'd take the deal and see if you can deal Zimmerman for a pitcher. It's been a good year for pitchers on the waiver wire too, so I'm sure a good enough replacement can be found there. Help with mine? viewtopic.php?f=26&t=435367
I don't think you can do this trade. Longoria has been struggling all year and your SP would take a massive hit by losing Hamels. Only way you could do this is if you could then turn Zimmerman into a SP but then what would be the point of doing this trade.
"In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move."- Douglas Adams
Longoria is a perfect buy-low. He's also brought his points per game average up to a 3.1. To put things in perspective, Sabathia couldn't get him out last night, but did well with the other 8 people in the lineup.
Do the deal for Longoria and trade Zimm and potentially another one of your arms (say Vazquez, Peavy, or Dickey) for a top-flight pitcher.
Totally off-topic, but I'm surprised that you have Morse on your bench.

If you think you can work another deal using zimmerman for pitching, I think you can do this trade. Hamels has really been solid this year though so if you have any doubts about making another trade, I would not do it.
I would def hold onto Hamels. Longo is a very good 3b but not that much better than zimmerman. Hamels has the stuff to go out and throw a CG SH with 12 ks every game. He has pitched very well this year and is having a better year and Longo.
in an ideal world, I'd be able to offload Zimm for another SP...but there is no guarantee that I'll be able to do this...which is why i'm so hesitant to pull the trigger.
So, it really comes down to:
Is the addition of Longo good enough to basically have a mediocre pitching staff??
