I'm in a 16 team, 28 keeper head to head league. Categories are standard 5x5 plus OBP, SLUG, holds, and quality starts.
I was offered the following trade:
My Mat Latos for his Pablo Sandoval
My roster: C - Wilson Ramos 1b - Miguel Cabrera 2b - Chase Utley 3b - Danny Valencia ss - Stephen Drew of - Adam Jones of - Nick Markakis of - Chris Young Util - Danny Espinosa bench - Corey Hart, Kurt Suzuki, Carlos Pena, Travis Snider, Seth Smith
SP - Mat Latos, Matt Garza, Rick Porcello, Edwin Jackson, Ubaldo Jiminez, Chris Carpenter, Chad Billingsley, Jhoulys Chacin, Gio Gonzalez RP - Frank Franciso, Jason Isringhausen, Francisco Cordero, Antonio Bastardo, Evan Meek
So obviously, 3B is somewhat of a need for me as Valencia hasn't been hitting as well as I had hoped, although he has been better this month. But is Sandoval worth giving up Latos for?
If you're trying to win this year then its an alright deal. I don't think Panda keeps up his current pace, or that Latos doesn't get better from this point on. But you do need help at 3b. if you don't think you will win this year avoid this deal completely
Short-term it helps, but I don't know if I like losing out on Latos long-term. You already have some young stud pitchers (Gio, Chacin) and a couple of guys who look like they're about to reach another level (Porcello, Garza), so it's not a HUGE loss, but a loss nonetheless.
It's up to you. I think Sandoval will help you out certainly, but I'm having a difficult time justifying giving up Latos. I prefer him to Garza and Chacin even (although I think I'd prefer Gio). So see if you can make the trade with Garza or Chacin, perhaps.
(In reference to an Aaron Hill for David Price swap)
