I need a second opinion

Postby MasterX1918 » Wed Jul 20, 2011 3:39 pm

5x5 12 team basic yahoo winner league. I'm in first place by a good bit, mainly due to my awexome offense (the only category i'm doing poorly in is saves, and i'm middle of the road in wins and K's) Anyways, a guy offered me an interesting trade, basically asking me to swap my 2 elite hitters for his 2 elite pitchers. I'm worried that the trade will be too devastating to my offense. Here's the proposition:

I Receive
Roy Halladay
Tim Lincecum

I Give Up
Matt Kemp
Prince Fielder

this is my lineup pre-trade

C-Carlos Santana
1B-Miguel Cabrera
2B-Gordan Beckham
3B-Michael Cuddyer
SS-Derek Jeter
OF-Matt Kemp
OF-Carlos Beltran
OF-Michael Bourn
UTIL-Prince Fielder
UTIL-Justin Upton
BN-Nick Swisher
BN-Alcides Escobar
BN-Pedro Alvarez

SP-Jeremy Hellickson
SP-Ricky Nolasco
RP-Drew Storen
RP-Andrew Bailey
P-Justin Verlander
P-Johnny Cueto
P-Josh Beckett
P-Jon Rauch
BN-Madison Bumgarner
BN-Roy Oswalt
DL-Jon Broxton

Would I be stupid for rejecting this? As you can see I have a pretty stacked team already, but it's pretty hard to pass up on getting Lincecum AND Halladay. I feel like worst case scenario I could use Halladay or Lincecum as leverage and go after an elite closer.

As always WHIR

Kemp is pretty much best player in fantasy.....

I wouldn't trade two top hitters for a SPs...to me SPs not worth as much...Try something like Beltran & Nolasco for Lincecum...

OR I would consider trading Fielder for Halladay straight up, but not Kemp (he is 5 cat guy)

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Hitters are always more valuable than pitchers. Hitters contribute to 5 categories, Starting pitchers to 4.

I agree with the consensus. Especially with someone like Kemp, who is rocking out in literally every hitting category.

You could certainly use Fielder as a trade piece, but I'd hold on Kemp for now. See if you can get Lincecum for Prince (I doubt you can get Halladay for Prince, but that would be option #1).
(In reference to an Aaron Hill for David Price swap)

Thanks for the input, I actually feel sort of aloof for even considering it. I sent a counter trade of Beltan & Hellickson for Lincecum & Bastardo. I have my reservations about Hellickson pitching the entire season and a DL stint is inevitable for Beltran.

If you can throw Oswalt into the mix along with Alvarez and try to grab Halladay as well, then it totally works out in your favor.

Not only does it free up bench space, but you're selling players that still have some value-just not for you. :-)

Thats a much better trade for you then the original one. Hitters are way more valuable then pitchers since they contribute every day and pitchers only contribue 1-2 times a week. Plus Matt Kemp is a top 2 player in fantasy right now.

I'd say Fielder for Halladay would work or your counter.

Keep Kemp.
