so i'm newly in first place with 88 points, standard 5x5 roto. two teams within 5 points of me and 4th and 5th within 12 points. I have 48/55 batting points and 40/50 pitching points. I have 3 Batting points within reach, and I'm killing it in HR. Might gain a couple K points with the right arms, but ERA and WHIP will be hard to make up ground in. There is also some decent pitching on the waiver wire. Essentially if I can hold steady at high 80's I think I'll win.
So, I'm thinkin strongly about trading Kinsler, Reynolds, and either Marcum or Stauffer for Pedroia and Sandoval. I think I upgrade nicely at 2B and 3B, and get a huge avg boost without losing too much power. Marcum is the real kicker. I worried about his injuries a bit, but he's been so good I wonder if I'm giving up too much.
Last point is that the team I'm trading with is in 6th place, lowest contending team. I doubt he places, but he can certainly scrape points of the people right behind me, who are likely not trading me any shit i need.
I just picked up Ted Lilly off the WW so this trade sort of becomes Kinsler, Reynolds Marcum for Pedroia, Sandoval, Lilly. I know I'm overpaying, but is it worth it considering all the above?
Also, who do you like better ROS, Stauffer or Marcum?
For ROS, I'd stick with Stauffer. As for the deal, you do give up a good sum but you'll end up marginally better at 2 spots. Go ahead and make the deal - especially with a good stocked WW.
Geesh, my instincts tell me to stick with Marcum over Stauffer. That being said, Stauffer has been great and Marcum is an injury risk. It's something each time he goes out now. I would definitely do the trade, but which pitcher you'll have to decide. If you forced me to pick, I'd keep Marcum.
Can Marcum & Lilly be removed from the trade? If not I say keep Marcum. If you can do a 2 for 2 straight across then I say pull the trigger and get Pedroia and Sandoval. However, if the guy won't go for that I do think you are in a position to over pay a bit considering your lead in HR.
