Looking to make a trade that may improve my keepers in this league as I am out of it for this year. Which set of keepers is better keeping in mind that this is a point system, 16 team, 23 man roster, 300 dollar budget per team. As many keepers as you want per year as long as you don't exceed 300 dollars. Pitchers tend to score a bit more points that hitters, also keep that in mind. Thanks.
Keeper List 1
Matt Cain($30) Adam Jones($9) Miguel Olivo($4)
Or
Brian McCann($23) Alex Rios($16) Luke Gregerson($1) Plus I get to have 3 great minor leaguers that could help me out next year:
At first glance, I thought Cain was too pricey. But seeing Lee at $44 vs Cain at $30, I changed my mind. I'd definitely do option 1. Adam Jones is an absolute steal for $9 IMO. But why are you keeping Olivo? I'd think Bud Norris @ $3 or even Soriano @ $4 would be of better value for your dollar.

The reason I was considering the McCann side is because of McCann and I think Gregerson will be the closer next year. Plus I get three absolute studs in the minors. Any other opinions?
It's definitely not crazy to see how you were looking at it. McCann is the best catcher in fantasy baseball, and with the Padres potentially wheeling and dealing, I'm sure Gregerson has as good a shot as any to close next year.
And like you said, you get the three minor leaguers as well in this deal, that you would not be getting on the other side of things.
The only thing that detracts from McCann's side is Alex Rios for 16 bucks, and that's actually a big problem. If you could alleviate that somehow, then I'd be all for it. But Rios for 16 is enough to ruin that entire side of it. Too much money for a player that I loathe.
(In reference to an Aaron Hill for David Price swap)

Would you guys even keep Cain at $30 next year? Or is that too pricey? I Know Jones at 9 bucks is great but isn't McCann at $23 damn good too? Plus I would be getting a future closer and top notch prospects. What do you guys think?
As others have said, I would go with the Cain side. However, watch the San Diego situation closely because both Adams and Bell are being shopped (which means that maybe Gregerson could be a candidate to close).
I would go with the McCann side, but Rios is a deal breaker at $16. If he was around $10 then I'd gamble on the rebound, but $16 is steep. Can I ask why he needs to be included in that group of players? I like the thoughts of McCann, Gregerson and the 3 minors.
If it looks like the top 2 or 3 tiers of SP is going to be thin going into the draft next year because most have been kept, then I think the Cain side makes a lot of sense. But if a handful of those guys are being thrown back in, then I'd let Cain go and look to get 2-3 of those SP's (maybe including Lee).
I should have just named this post "should I make the trade?" Rios is involved for salary cap purposes, same can be said for Olivo. I won't keep Rios next year. So, it is basically Gregerson(keeper), McCann(keeper), nice minor leaguers for Cain(who the other guy says he won't keep), Jones(keeper) and Olivo(nonkeeper). IF you look at it that way do you make the deal and give up Cain and Jones for McCann, Gregerson, and 3 stud minors? I think I could probably get Cain back next year if I want him and pitchers will be thrown back as a lot have been overbid on. What do you guys think?
