I'm trying to capitalize on the All-Star MVP-ness of Prince Fielder and sell high (hard to sell much higher than he's generally worth, though!). I don't need the RBI production, and I don't really need the HR production, but I do need runs and steals. I could also use saves, since my two closers are Axford and Bell, both of whom might not be NL closers for long for various reasons. I'm in a 5x5 NL Roto league, and I see two potential teams who could really use the stats the Fielder brings to the table. In return, I'm planning to ask for Emilio Bonifacio + JJ Putz (or Ty Wigginton instead of Bonifacio) from one manager, or Jimmy Rollins + Cameron Maybin from the other. Which is the better deal for me, and is Fielder a fair price in return, or am I asking too much or too little?
I had a feeling that might be so. I tried to get Sandoval + Kimbrel + Nyjer Morgan (and I added Charlie Blackmon into the deal), which seemed fair to me, but that manager is incredibly difficult to deal with, so we are unlikely to come to any sort of agreement (he wanted Prado, too, and offered Soriano instead of Kimbrel and took Morgan out of the deal). In the world of easy-to-deal-with managers, would it be too much to ask for Bonifacio, Putz, *and* Wigginton, then? How about another option from a different team (this one less in need of the power Fielder brings): Chris Young and either Tabata Jordan Schafer. (Except: Is Schafer going to continue playing once Chipper returns to the Braves?)
I'd have to think twice even if it was Putz and Rollins. It would help if you posted yours and other managers lineup so we can be more precise with our suggestions. If he's a low-baller then simply don't deal with him. The players you named on his team is not exactly enticing pieces to give up Fielder anyway. No to the other offer as well
The lowballer actually isn't a consideration in this anymore; I've basically told him thanks but no thanks. The two managers I think are most likely to be interested in Fielder have rosters as follows. Thank you!:
(1) C - C. Ianetta 1B- Loney 2B - O. Hudson 3B - Juan Uribe SS - Rollins CI - Overbay MI - S. Drew OF - A. McCutchen, J Bruce, J. Bay, Maybin Util - Reed Johnson SP - Cain, Greinke, Bumgarner RP - K-Rod, Hanrahan P - D Lowe, Kuo, Billingsley BN - I. Stewart, P Alvarez, E Volquez DL - Chris Coghlan
(2) C - Y. Byrd Util - G. Soto SP - Daniel Hudson, Gallardo, Ian Kennedy RP - Melancon, Karstens P - Homer Bailey, Luebke, M. Stutes BN - McLouth, David Wright, Bobby Parnell DL - Tabata, Harang
My roster C - John Buck 1B - Fielder 2B - Prado 3B - Chris Johnson SS - Brandon Crawford CI - Freese MI - Schumaker OF - Hart, Huff, Alex Presley, Garrett Jones Util - Wilson Ramos SP - Maholm, Dickey, Carpenter RP - Axford, Bell P - Narveson, Lohse, Pedro Beato BN - Reyes, Blackmon, John Lannan DL - Chipper Jones, Josh Johnson
Looking at your roster I don't see how can afford to lose Fielder but I will believe you when you say you don't. Team 1 probably works in your favor the most as Loney as his 1B is horrific! 2 combinations that could work is McCutchen/Hanrahan for Fielder/Axford or Rollins/Bruce/Hanrahan for Fielder/Axford/Hart. He's got Krod already and that Milwaukee situation is too unclear for my liking. Chances are Axford gets more save ops but I don't want to hang around and see. Hanrahan has been lights out this year and I don't see that changing at all.
I wouldn't touch either option. Prince is worth MUCH more unless maybe this is a keeper and you risk losing him to the AL?
