His k/9 is 7.5, which isnt spectacular but still very good considering he throws a lot of innings per start. (last yr it was 9.5/9 which is among the very best in the game)
Also his peripherals are elite. FIP was 3.01 lat yr and 2.43 this season - so he's not getting abnormally lucky. He only walks 2 batters per 9. His K/BB rate is near 4. His results speak for themselves.
now i wouldnt take him in the top 5, but definitely in the top 10
He certainly has been lucky in home runs -- given his career, one would expect almost three times as many as he has. His control is certainly good. But I'm not buying him above Lincecum, for example, who's pushing 10 k/9 and has been better in preventing home runs over his career.
This thread has me thinking about doing some Lincecum shopping later today.
Well ya id def not take him over Timmy either. But i'd say hes comparable to CC, Hamels, Lester - all guys who most people consider to be inside the top 10 SP
Because he's trying to confuse everyone. Ignore the numbers to the left....he just cut and pasted someone elses list and didn't bother to update it with new numbers. The tiers are the only thing to worry about in regards to his list here.

I would actually place Hamels in tier 2. He's only 27 and without 2 very bad starts his era would be 1.85. I know thats not really how you can look at it but he has been amazing and still has 4/5 years in his "prime"

Not better than any of the names listed ahead of him, save Garza. Maybe Ubaldo depending if he lands in the American League in an unfavorable situation.
