The decision to promote Mike Trout was based solely on Peter Bourjos' hamstring injury.
In other words, it's completely unclear if Trout will remain in the majors following Bourjos' return. The Angels are unsure if Bourjos will require a stint on the disabled list. Regardless, Trout should get the start in center field for all three of Los Angeles' games against the Mariners this weekend, and if he starts out with a bang, it's hard to envision him being sent back to Double-A by a team in a dogfight for the American League West.
I would be more excited if Bourjous was to go on the DL and give Trout a decent amount of time to see what he can do.
the Angles have 3 games at home and then the all star break. if Bourjos is set to return playing after the all star break and Trout gets sent back down to the minors after playing 3 games, it's going to be a big disappointment through fantasy baseball.
could one look at this as if Bourjos must be going on the DL? because if they really felt Bourjos was going to be able to play after the all star break then why would they call up their top prospect for just 3 games?
