Big Hanley trade.. WHIR

Postby Skimo77 » Tue Jul 05, 2011 9:48 pm

So I've had Hanley since he came into the league in my standard 5x5 6 player keeper league. I just recieved an offer that i GIVE Hanley and Wandy Rodriguez and i GET Votto, Starlin Castro and Mariano Rivera... I'm definitely leaning towards doing this trade, but i'm very hesitant in giving up Hanley... I'm in 2nd place and his team is out of the running this year so he's trying to shore up his team for next year... here is my roster at the moment :

C: Salty/Lucroy
1B: Youk/Helton
2B: Rickie Weeks
SS: Hanley Ramirez
3B: Aramis Ramirez/Youk/Alex Gordon
OF: Kemp/Braun/ Boesch/Francoeur

SP: Cliff Lee/Jordan Zimmerman/Anibal Sanchez/Bartolo Colon/ Phil Hughes/ Yovani Gallardo/ Alexi Ogando/ Wandy Rodriguez
CP: Sergio Santos/ Neftali Feliz/ Brandon League
RP: Glenn Perkins
DL: Jonathan Broxton

If your pitching staff can handle losing some depth then I would definitely make this trade.
I would drop Salty to make room for the extra guy.

help with mine please:

YES. Castro is the new Hanley. watch him put on 15lbs in the offseason and learn to read pitchers a little better on the paths. AND VOTTO!! I would go HanRam for Votto straight up in a second.

Why is everyone giving up on Hanley so soon and so soon to pronounce Castro as his heir apparent. First of all I'll be laughing all the way to the bank if you value Hanley so low. No way, he's producing again like we knew he would.

I don't know if he'll hit for power but he'll certainly be an Omar Vizquel or a better hitting Elvis Andrus for sure, not quite Reyes though.

If I'm in your shoes I'm looking to upgrade catcher first or OF3.

Alex Gordon should have OF eligibility. If you do this deal, move Youk to 3b and Gordon to OF-3 UTL whichever Boesch isn't taking up.

If you're contending for this year, definitely do the deal. I don't think Castro is "the next Hanley" (nowhere near the power), but he's a good long-term SS in a dynasty league, possibly even better than Hanley in that context. You could also use his speed.

Losing Wandy hurts in a dynasty league, but you're getting Votto, who's going to be great for years. Mariano's obviously not long-term money for you, but he's definitely getting it done this year, at least.
