Just drafted...how do I look?

Postby redsoxfan5 » Tue Mar 30, 2004 10:51 am

Hey guys,

I just drafted my team for the season. It's a 14 team, h2h league. Scoring categories are:

R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, OPS
W, shutouts, saves, Ks, holds, ERA, WHIP

Here's my team:

C- Mike Liberthal
1B- Jason Giambi
2B- Mark Loretta
3B- Hank Blalock
SS- Angel Berroa
OF- Vlad Guerrero
OF- Geoff Jenkins
OF- Brian Giles
Util- Jay Gibbons
Util- Luis Matos
Bench- Travis Hafner, Sean Casey, Sean Burroughs

SP- Kerry Wood
SP- Tim Hudson
RP- Danny Kolb
RP- Aquilino López
P- Kevin Millwood
P- Wade Miller
P- Jeremy Affledt
Bench- Brian Anderson, Haracio Ramirez, Tomo Ohka

I currently have a pending trade that would give me Nomar Garciaparra for Jason Giambi. Obviously, that strenghtens SS for me incase Berroa can't repeat last years ROY season but at the same time; hurts me at 1B. So I'm also working on bringing in David Ortiz for cheap.

So what do you guys think of my team? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Good team for a 14 team league. You should contend. If you can get a decent 1B in a trade, Nomar trade is good I guess. Personally, I would not have done it. Berroa give you steals that Nomar won't give you and any other 1B won't give you. Unless you try to trade Jenkins for a speedy OF.

Your Sp are great for a 14 team league. You obviously lack in the saves department...

Yeah, I'm working on trying to bring in a reliable closer. I think Kolb will have a good year but I still need to grab someone else. Lopez could be good too but I really want to get someone a little more solid.

As much as I like Nomar (and am a Boston fan)- I wouldn't deal Giambi to get him. Gosh that is a painful statement to make. Nomar's injury scares me a little bit and I don't think you will see anywhere near the SB total of last season + I am not sure when he will really return and be effective. Solid all round team though

Berroa at SS is going to do just fine. Not worth losing Giambi.
