Drinking age is 18 in most provinces. 19 in Ontario.
If you have problems and don't want all your stuff searched, have the questionable guy cross by himself on foot or something. I considered this when me and 3 friends drove to Michigan for a golf tournament and ended up handcuffed, in individual interrogation rooms, all because one guy's name was the same as a fugitive ("Justin Williams" not too common, eh?). If we had to go back to the US any time soon after, I was gonna make damn sure he was in somebody else's car.
