My friend's passport won't come in time and we don't live in a state that offers the EDL program. Is there any legal, or barring that semi-legal method to get him past?

I think you used to be able to cross with a license and birth certificate, but I don't know if that's still the case.

i believe Teddy is right...my cousin-in-law works for Bordrer Patrol...i'll double check with him
you might get some extra hassle though

so asked my cousin-in-law...he doesnt reccomend it. IF Canada lets you through (he's not 100% they will) the US cannot deny a citizen entry on the way back, BUT he said you'll get quite a hassle (having to go inside and plead your case, probable search, etc)

That's what my research says. I'm just wondering how lax they are on enforcement, or if they search the trunk frequently. I mean, one of my friend's is brown-skinned and apparently people think he looks terroristy. :-o

It's about 9-10 hours of a drive and not worth the "not 100%" thing. Especially since we don't have anyplace to go, we just want to go there, and it's probably going to sound like we're planning on smuggling stuff or doing SOMETHING illegal. :-b

Thanks though, now we can hopefully reschedule. ;-D
