Its the newest thing. :-)
Gaslamp Ball: Hoyer thought Anthony Rizzo hit two balls that would have been out in Petco. He hit two 418 foot balls to "the exact wrong part of the ballpark". In general Rizzo has good at bats. He has been over swinging a bit. "This is about what we expected." His batting average should be a little bit higher due to tough luck. He's in an adjustment period.

Hoyer thinks Heath Bell should be an All Star. "It's hard to leave Mike Adams off the team." He's been one of the best set up guys in the league. Chase Headley is leading the league in 3rd base OPS. Hoyer would rank his All Star nominations in order as Bell, Adams and Headley.

Hoyer thinks Headley will never be a guy that hits a lot of home runs in Petco Park. Chase is hitting near .350 on the road and that's not an accident.

The Padres have a lot of propriety stats that they use. "If you don't like baseball stats then that's your prerogative. If you do like them I always say stick to your handful of favorites otherwise you drive yourself crazy with those 8 million acronyms out there."

something like that.
NC Times: Tim Stauffer enjoyed an outpouring of run support unlike any he has received this season as the Padres extended their winning streak to three games with an 11-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves in front of 27,227 at Petco Park. The Padres followed consecutive road wins against the Boston Red Sox by producing a Petco Park season-high 11 runs on 12 hits. The Padres had five extra-base hits, including Jesus Guzman's first career home run, to back Stauffer (3-5), who entered with the worst run support in baseball. "They made it up for it, that's for sure," Stauffer joked. "That was fun to be a part of."

Injury update: Third baseman Chase Headley (shoulder) didn't start for the second straight game. Manager Bud Black said he may need "a day or two more." Pitcher Luke Gregerson (strained oblique) threw on the side Saturday and said he "felt good." Pitcher Aaron Harang (foot) is being fitted with a special shoe. First baseman/outfielder Brad Hawpe (strained right middle finger) is "a ways away", according to Black. And left-hander Joe Thatcher (shoulder) is improving.

sdut: Aaron Harang threw in the bullpen on Sunday morning, but Padres manager Bud Black said he likely won't return to the Padres until after the All-Star break. Harang has been wearing a protective boot and his cleats have been fitted with a carbon fiber insert to them more rigid. He understands the Padres may be tentative to rush him back to the mound.

Et cetera: LHP Josh Spence pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings on Sunday. He has retired the first 10 batters faced in his career. Spence was the 98th player from Arizona State University to play in the majors. He is also the Padres' fifth Australian, joining OF Justin Huber (2008), RHP Chris Oxspring (2005), INF Mark Ettles (1993) and INF Craig Shipley (1991-94, 96-97). ... The Padres are 18-11 in day games. ... RHP Heath Bell has converted 13 straight save opportunities. ... LHP Clayton Richard singled in the first pinch-hit appearance of his career. ... The Padres won their first series against the Atlanta Braves at Petco Park since concluding a three-game sweep on May 16-18, 2005.
