Rios for Scherzer(WHIR) *Updated*

Well, being from Toronto, I have a rocky relationship with Rios. I don't feel he is going to make a significant enough improvement this year that would make it worth keeping him.

I'd unload him for Scherzer and think it would be much more exciting to watch Brown develop.

this is tough.....as i dont like scherzer. I understand the need to unload rios salary, but at 16 bucks i think scherzer is also an unload. Id pass and go for zimmerman if his salary is much cheaper. Otherwise just ride out rios, he is hitting as of late anyways.

What price is Zimmerman? If it's low I'd go for him and ship off Rios. Thanks for the help on mine!

Zimmerman is the league minimum, $5 in '12, $10 in '13, $20 in '14.

I think Zimmermann is awesome. I still regret dealing him myself. If you can get him for Rios then that's pretty solid. He's not the sexy name that is Scherzer (if that's even true) but he is very consistent with quality starts, so huge in H2H.

Not sure what your going for here -- just dumping rios' cost? I'm no big fan of rios, and would probably prefer either of the pitchers at their prices...

If you've stuck with them this long I say hold on to them in hopes that one or both of them straighten it out. If you make a deal Rios for Scherzer is the better deal.

Only reason you'd do the Scherzer/Brown deal is for the future right? Unload Rios now and his $'s trading down for Brown to eventually come into fruition.

But right now you're sitting in first place and I'm not sure if you want to invest in the future vs. win this year. I think Rios can help you do that.. look at his latest stretch and his career stats.

Rios - 20/20(30) guy. If he's to hit those #'s, he'll need to go on a tear with 14 hr and a bunch of bags in the 2nd half. That would definitely move the needle for you.

Brown? Just that.. a question mark, a rookie, and the Phils are at the top of the heap.. they won't mess around with a struggling rook to win a pennant imo.

Scherzer? Another run of the mill tier 2/3 starter in a sea of quality pitching. You said it, you're staff is sick and you wouldn't even know what to do with him if you did.

Just my 2 cents but I would stand firm. You're in 1st, and i'm betting Rios will catch fire while another bat you have could go cold.
