Dynasty Deal: Verlander for Cain/Trout - WHIR

I just made a trade in my 12 team H2H dynasty league. Scoring is 6x6, with OPS and Holds the additional categories. I took over this team before the season and it's currently in last place, unfortunately.

I traded: Matt Cain, Mike Trout
I received: Justin Verlander

My staff was weak beforehand, but now I've got Verlander to go along with King Felix as a sick one-two punch. I disliked giving up a top prospect like Trout, but I've got Chris Young doing well manning CF for me currently and have another top outfield prospect in the pipeline with Desmond Jennings.

Probably a decent deal. Trout could end up a stud, or he could bomb, that's the risk you take. But you got solid value for him I think.

I'm guesing that you are wondering what people think of the trade. I think that you made out well. While a highly regarded prospect, we don't know for sure how Trout is going to do in the long run. Also,just a suggestion, your title to this tread sounds like you gave up Verlander. A trade is usually described in the reverse.

I like the move. Cain probably has his best years behind him. Verlander is putting together his best year this year. It's worth getting the dominant Verlander for a lesser pitcher and a prospect.

With that said, here's the flip side. You play in a H2H, so streaming is more common, making pitching in general slightly less valuable. Verlander also only contributes to 4 of the 6 pitching categories.

i'd say you did alright. It looks like JV is FINALLY putting it all together (look at his last month stats). Trout could be great....or not.

I don't think you can beat yourself up for getting that kind of a stud pitcher for the price of a good pitcher and an unproven guy who may not come up til september and then potentially could be brandon wood.
