Youk for D. Brown or Moustakas

I am in a keeper and cannot keep Youk after this season. My team is in the middle of the pack, but I don't think I can win it, so I'm looking to trade him for some young keep-able talent.

I was offered (from 2 seperate teams):
$6 D. Brown
$3 Moose

I like both (prob Brown more), but Moose's 3B eligibility has me very interested and he's half the price, but $3 isn't a big deal to grasp at straws.

What's the consensus around here? Who would you take?

I wouldn't take either one of those players straight up for Youk, whether I could keep him or not..... You play to win every year, not just next.

I agree, but I have no shot to win it this year. I play in a serious salary structured pay league and I need to build my team up for next year. We have to keep 7 guys and I only have 5 real keepers, so I need to unload guys who I can't keep.

This is besides the point, I guess who does the consensus think is a better long-term player between Brown and Moose?

It's way too early to concede defeat IMO but if you are set on doing so, shop Youkilis openly to yourleague. You should get better keepers if there is any competition at the top.

I agree with the guys above. I think you can get better keepers going forward. Maybe hosmer, pineda, etc. if your willing to package for them.

I have Pineda (traded Greinke for him) and Hosmer to me is in the same boat as Moose and Brown as far as talent and potential. Plus I have Votto at 1B. To me, besides pitching Brown and Moose are the best prospects in the game, when you factor in they're already on a big league club. Harper and Trout are probably 2 years away.

I'm 20 games out of a playoff spot (2 awful week in a row and ran up against some hot teams) and have injuries to deal with, which will not help me make up any ground in the next month or so. Plus we have a trade deadline and I want to get some stuff done. These 1-1 deals are about as best as I can do (the Brown guy just pulled the deal, but I think I can convince him again) as Youk not being able to be kept is HUGE in our league.

I'm leaning towards Brown, but I love Moose's 3B eligibility.

I'd take Moose if those are the two options available, though I agree with others that have mentioned you should advertise the fact that Youk is available since that should net you a better return.

Thanks, I appreciate it, bit I don't think I've done a good job being clear. I have advertised it and these were the 2 offers I got back.

If you are dead set on trading Youk, and those are the only two offers, I say Moose. He's got the potential there, and he's in a shallow position. Moose in my opinion.
