Worth trading FOR Pujols in h2h league hoping for playoffs?

Postby taw856 » Mon Jun 20, 2011 2:52 pm

Pujols is reportedly out 4-6 weeks with his forearm injury, and I imagine it might be a bit longer when including a rehab stint before he's effective again, so there's no doubt in my mind that most already rosterable 1Bs are now going to outproduce him over the remainder of the fantasy season.

That said, would you consider trading FOR Pujols anyway in a h2h league with an eye toward the playoffs? (6x6, uses fpct and holds)

My team's biggest weakness all year has been 1B (I drafted K. Morales), and while this would do nothing to help me in the short term, if I could manage to sneak into the playoffs (I'm currently holding the last playoff spot), it could shore up a hole when it really matters. Too big a risk?

The deal would likely be Justin Smoak for Pujols.

Absolutely. I'm surprised Smoak for Pujols could even be on the table.

+1 for bginda. If you have the chance to land Pujols for Smoak you do it. And fast. Also, and this is just rumor not fact, supposedly according to ESPN Pujols' injuries are "not as serious as initially presumed".

How is a fracture in his left forearm and out to at least August no be serious? A right handed batter having a fracture in his left arm is not a good thing. That's where you get your power, asking him to hit for power will be a lot to ask of someone even as good as him.

At first I thought you aren't in position to wait really, but if it is only for Smoak then go for it!

Smoak for Pujols is outrageous. No way the other guy goes for that in a h2h.

If Smoak is the price by all means..... I'd also be prepared to weather a hell of a storm if it is accepted. My league would tear the house down. Good luck though. If it works, I'd even sit out the fuss and pouting of others. Good luck.
