Trade: Mauer for Pineda (WHIR)

Postby mailman32_us » Mon Jun 20, 2011 2:11 pm

I've been offered his Mauer for my Pineda. Wanting to know thoughts on Mauer for the rest of the year. The other factor is that Pineda would only cost me a 12th Round pick as a keeper next year while Mauer would cost me a 2nd rounder.

Currently tied for 1st but thinking my offense needs a boost with Rios and Uggla in the tank but wondering if I should look to shop/upgrade at somewhere other than Catcher.

SP - Kershaw, C. Hamels, I. Kennedy, R. Romero, Dempster, Z. Britton, Hellickson, Pineda, Humber

I would not keep Mauer for next year if it costs a second rounder, so the deal becomes Pineda for this year and next, for Mauer the rest of the season. If you feel like you need more insurance to lock up 1st place this year, it may be worth it, but with so many question marks around Mauer I am leaning towards declining.

Thanks for your help on mine.
I'd simply avoid Mauer. Its not clear what you can get out of him the rest of the year, and Pineda's been a pretty good pitcher this year.

I would do it. Yadier is dependable not great.... Mauer can be great, but is he dependable. I like Pineda. Milk him for what he is worth, and at the end of the season if they limit his innings, you can still flip him for help in this keeper. I traded Pineda this year, even in a keeper. I wanted to max out. I should have waited longer.

Good luck.
