Offered Lilly for Gardner, WHIR,LL

Postby KaPluie » Mon Jun 20, 2011 12:05 pm

I got a trade offer of Lilly for my Gardner. I'd normally reject this one pretty quickly, however I do need SP help. Given Gardner's recent play, however, and the fact he could see a lot of time in the leadoff role going forward for the Yanks, I probably don't want to sell him right now, but I thought I'd run it by you guys real quick to see what you think.

team:
League: 12 teams, Daily H2H, 6x6, Keeper (3 players)
Roster Size: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, Util, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL, DL

Batter Scoring: R, HR, RBI, SB, OBP, SLG
Pitching Scoring: W, SV, K, ERA, WHIP, Quality Starts

C - Alex Avila (C, preseason YRank=349)
1B - Joey Votto (1B, 5)
2B - Michael Young (1B/2B/3B, 76)
3B - Alex Gordon (3B/OF, 287)
SS - Elvis Andrus (SS, 100)
OF - Corey Hart (OF, 98)
OF - Matt Holliday (OF/DL, 21)
OF - Alfonso Soriano (OF/DL, 178)
Utility - Brett Gardner (OF, 120)
Bench - Bobby Abreu (OF, 117)
Bench - Dan Uggla (2B, 34)
Bench - Mike Moustakas (3B, 1069)

SP - Cole Hamels (SP, 60)
SP - Francisco Liriano (SP, 83)
RP - Jonathan Papelbon (RP, 93) (closer)
RP - Jose Valverde (RP, 130) (closer)
P - Sergio Santos (RP, 381) (closer)
P - Matt Capps (RP, 233) (closer)
P - Anibal Sanchez (SP, 277)
Bench - Johnny Cueto (SP, 212)
Bench - Tim Stauffer (SP/RP, 225)

You could use some pitching, but I wouldn't do this trade 1/1. I'm sure there would be someone looking for speed or a Yankees fan that you could get more or package him for something.

Your thinking is right on. Gardner is now in the lead off role for a high scoring team. Don't like Lilly in return.

I can see need for Gardner and Lily, and I like Lily for second half. I still think he can be had for less. Wait out the offer.
