Dropping Rizzo, Who To Pick Up? WHIR

Postby studepaber » Mon Jun 20, 2011 10:53 am

In a 12 team h2h points league and am looking to drop Rizzo from my UTIL spot and was wondering who I should replace with (no contracts involved who do you think will do best the remainder of the season)?

Melky
Smoak
Alcides
Reynolds
C. Lee
Swisher
Damon

Melky has been pretty solid all year. Reynolds has been doing well recently, but still sports an iffy average. Swisher has been getting better. Smoak has been pretty good, minus the power department. And, Damon has just been doing it all for the Rays.

Of them, I would probably add Damon if you need runs or OBP (he had a 39 game on base streak to start the season), Smoak if you need AVG, Reynolds if you need power (and a couple SBs), Swisher for RBIs, or Melky for all around.

Every one of them has a decent reason to be used. So, look at the cats you're weak in and pick one to compensate.

Good luck! (Yes I left two out. I haven't followed them much or at all this year. :) )

Pretty weak in the hits and RBIs department. Probably Swisher, Damon and Melky would be the best choices. So let's say we add Alex Rios to the mix (pretty lackluster year but has heated up lately), still add one of those 3 over him?

Thanks for the help!

For RBIs, I like Swisher. He's hitting in the middle of a stacked yankees lineup in a small park. He also has hit 20 home runs each of the last 4 years or so, so he'll give you some of that too.

If hits are more important than RBIs, maybe Melky.... I still like Swisher best. He's also hot right now.

As far as Rios goes.... Until he proves useful, I'd not have him on my team.

I'd go ahead and take Swisher. No statistical reason why, I just feel as though he has the best opportunity to produce hitting on the Yankees team. Not sure if he's been batting lead-off for a while, but today he is. Hopefully all the extra at bats from the lead-off position will spark him.

I'd ride Swisher for some time, but I would be prepared to get Rios in time. I still have inclination he turns out in second half.
