Just traded for Hanley Ramirez, opinions plz.

Postby TheDanBeyer » Sun Jun 19, 2011 10:27 am

Hello,

So I wanted to shake things up a bit. I'm in a 16 team keeper league(keep 5) that counts the standard 5X5 plus OBP,Slugging, GWRBI for the hitters and IP,QS,Holds for the pitchers. 23 man rosters with 2B/SS a position.

So here's the deal.

I GIVE - Jay Bruce, Ian Desmond, Anthony Rizzo, Brett Anderson

I GET - Hanley Ramirez, Clayton Kershaw.

C -EMPTY-
1B Mark Teixeira, NYY 1B
2B Jemile Weeks, Oak 2B
3B Alex Rodriguez, NYY 3B
SS Troy Tulowitzki, Col SS
2B/SS Dee Gordon, LAD SS
1B/3B Adam Dunn, CWS 1B, DH
LF Michael Morse, Was RF, 1B, LF
CF Angel Pagan, NYM CF, LF, RF
RF Jay Bruce, Cin RF
UTIL Anthony Rizzo, SD 1B
Bench Ian Desmond, Was SS
Bench Jason Bourgeois, Hou LF, CF
Bench Domonic Brown, Phi RF
DL Ike Davis*, NYM 1B DL15
DL Mike Napoli*, Tex C, 1B DL15
PITCHING

Daniel Hudson, Ari SP
Madison Bumgarner, SF SP
Daniel Bard, Bos RP
Mark Melancon, Hou RP
Ryan Madson, Phi RP
Mike Adams, SD RP
Jordan Lyles, Hou SP
Ryan Vogelsong, SF SP,RP
Brett Anderson*, Oak SP DL15
Juan Nicasio, Col SP

My pitching has actually been quite good on the year. I'm winning many pitching categories so I'm not too worried about it. (one team has Lester, Hanson, Lincecum, and Weaver......) For hitting I was in last place in average for most of the season. Desmond and Dunn were killing me. My thinking behind trading away Jay Bruce was that RF is such a deep position for hitters that I could end up getting another one down the road. I also have Morse and Pagan, who have great outfield position flexibility, meaning I can pick up any outfield position and that will satisfy my roster. I also have Ike Davis coming off the DL in a few weeks, meaning I won't need to play Adam Dunn. So realistically my 5 keepers for next season based on this trade will be Teixeira, Arod, Tulowitzki, Hanley, and Kershaw.

What do you guys think?

Hell yes. Kershaw is a top 5 going forward at this point and Hanley, while awful, has more than enough value to cover the balance of this deal. You did very well fleecing an upset Hanley owner while selling high on Bruce in the process.

Value wise it was a good trade for you. Your team definitely needed an upgrade in Pitching. You now have an abundance of SS, so you might look to trade one and upgrade the pitching some more and maybe look for 2B and OF.
