I currently have J.P Arencibia and hes been doing bad and might land a spot on the DL
Which one of these catcher is worth picking up?
Russell Martin (NYY - C) Yadier Molina (StL - C) Geovany Soto (ChC - C) Kurt Suzuki (Oak - C) Jonathan Lucroy (Mil - C) Ramón Hernández (Cin - C) Chris Iannetta (Col - C) Carlos Ruiz (Phi - C) Jarrod Saltalamacchia (Bos - C) John Jaso (TB - C) Nick Hundley (SD - C) Bryce Harper (Was - C,OF) Rod Barajas (LAD - C) Wilson Ramos (Was - C) Yorvit Torrealba (Tex - C) Ryan Hanigan (Cin - C) Iván Rodríguez (Was - C) Josh Thole (NYM - C)
I'm frankly amazed that Yadier Molina, Martin, Iannetta and Soto are even on the wire. I like them pretty much in that order, I think, although it depends which categories you're trying to fill.
I'm in the same boat wondering whether or not to keep Arencibia around. The word out of Toronto today was that they'll be giving him more rest to keep him fresh. Ugh...
On that list, definitely Y.Molina, he plays almost every day and has the best AVG of most everyday catchers. After that it's a crap shoot. Soto is sucking big time since returning from injury. Iannetta is the classic hot/cold frustration, and Russell Martin can't be banked on to stay healthy enough to play often enough. My thoughts anyway.
I like Soto the most of those guys. But with that much depth you should play whoever is the hottest. There should be no reason to stick with only one catcher. Sort by whichever player has been hotter over the last three weeks and run with him. Then keep doing it every week or so and rotate them.
