Longoria for Howard?

Postby Alkaholik » Sat Jun 18, 2011 6:48 pm

10 team h2h league.

i was offered my
Evan Longoria, 3B - TB

for his:
Ryan Howard, 1B - PHI

now this doesnt make much sense since i already have fielder and gaby sanchez, but what if i move Pablo sanduval at 3b, move howard to my util and then trade away gaby sanchez?

which would you prefer.

Scenario 1:
1b: Prince Fielder, 1b - MIL
3b: Evan Longoria, 3b - TB
Util: Gaby Sanchez, 1b - FLA
BN: Pablo Sanduval, 1b/3b - SF

Scenario 2:
1b: Prince Fielder, 1b - MIL
3b: Pablo Sanduval, 1b/3b - SF
Util: Ryan Howard, 1b - PHI
BN: Gaby Sanchez, 1b - FLA

Not a chance. Longoria is a top 10 overall player and you should only expect that kind of player in return. Howard is a solid 1B but you have no need for him and he just isn't the guy he used to be.

Yep. I know Longo has been disappointing so far this season, but I fully expect him to heat up in the second half.

Longoria might very well disappoint all year, and there's no doubt Howard will put up better numbers, but 3B is such a thin position that Longo is still the more valuable of the two.
