League info: 14-team, H2H, 5x5, non-keeper, 25-man roster with 3 bench spots.
I'm in first place and will almost assuredly make the playoffs. Team with Crawford is in 11th and won't let go of Crawford that easily. My intentions are to trade a few good but not great players for one very good player - Carl Crawford.
My first thought for a trade is:
I give: Eric Hosmer Mike Moustakas Sergio Santos
I get: Carl Crawford plus two scrubs I'd drop
First, what are your thoughts on that trade? Am I lowballing him or is it a fair offer? Second, can you think of any other trade offer given our rosters?
My team C - Matt Wieters 1B - Mark Teixeira 2B - Brandon Phillips 3B - Mike Moustakas SS - Asdrubal Cabrera 1B/3B - Paul Konerko 2B/SS - JJ Hardy OF - Ryan Braun, Adam Jones, Michael Cuddyer, Coco Crisp, Logan Morrison Utility - Eric Hosmer Bench - David Wright (DL), Dustin Ackley
SP - Cole Hamels, Yovani Gallardo, Max Scherzer, Jonathan Sanchez, Brett Myers, Kyle Lohse, Scott Baker, Edinson Volquez, Josh Johnson (DL) RP - Kyle Farnsworth, Sergio Santos
His team C - J.P. Arencibia 1B - Prince Fielder 2B - Neil Walker 3B - Edwin Encarnacion SS - Alcides Escobar 1B/3B - Justin Morneau 2B/SS - Wilson Valdez OF - Andrew McCutchen, Corey Hart, Torii Hunter, Grady Sizemore, Carlos Gomez Utility - Carlos Ruiz Bench - Carl Crawford (DL), Pedro Alvarez
SP - Ubaldo Jimenez, Colby Lewis, Jaime Garcia, Josh Beckett, Gavin Floyd, RA Dickey, Bronson Arroyo, Dillon Gee RP - Brian Wilson, Scott Downs
I feel I can safely trade away one of my closers because both Brad Lidge and Jonathan Broxton are free agents so I can just get one or both of those if/when they are healthy and closing again.
So I want to offer a trade that he will be compelled to accept that favors me due to Crawford's potential but without losing any big time player.
I think that is a fair offer however he probably overvalues Crawford and doesn't want to let him go. Since he is on the DL it might make him more apt to take it. I'd be careful trading for him now though, speed guys and hamstring problems are never good...
I think it is a lowball offer, and I would be surprised if he accepted. Knowledgeable fantasy players usually understand that, in a three-fo-one deal, the person getting the single player almost always comes out ahead.
I'm not saying don't try it, but as a Crawford owner, I know I wouldn't touch that deal, no matter what place I am in.
I just rejected a 3-1 for Crawford in a keeper. Victorino Gardner and my choice of one of following 3 young SP : Hellickson, D Hudson, or Zimmeraman.

His team is a mess, but in a non-keeper, if I owned Crawford, there is no way I accept this. If it was a keeper, the other team would have to speculate with Hosmer and Moustakis. Santos isn't worth anything. Relievers come and go all the time.
