What would you offer for a top-flight 1B? - WHIR

Postby V » Sat Jun 18, 2011 3:27 pm

I've got one of the best offenses in the league (#1 in HR and R, 9 RBIs away from #1), but I'm only in 10th place in AVG. I'd like to make a Ryan Howard + X for (Cabrera or Votto or Pujols or Adrian Gonzalez), but don't know what type of offer would make the other guy willing to deal without killing me. Any ideas?

(Ditto with my pitching staff; #1 in ERA, #2 in WHIP, 8th place in Ks and Ws; ugh).

Standard 5x5 12 team Roto:
C: J.P. Arencibia
1B: Ryan Howard
2B: Rickie Weeks
3B: Evan Longoria
SS: Jhonny Peralta
IF: Kevin Youkilis
OF: Curtis Granderson
OF: Lance Berkman
OF: Matt Joyce
OF: Michael Bourn
U: David Ortiz
BN: Grady Sizemore
BN: Dee Gordon

SP: CC Sabathia
SP: Cole Hamels
SP: David Price
RP: Andrew Bailey
RP: John Axford
P: Jon Lester
P: Mark Melancon
P: Mat Latos
P: Jonathan Sanchez
BN: Eric Bedard

Tough without knowing what the other guys needs are. Something I always find useful is to email owners and work out an offer that way. Or look at who is tops in AVG and could use some power and make an offer. That way you both get something you need.

You can try Howard and Granderson for Pujols. It is a bit tough to just throw out names without know any information but If anything you are letting the Pujols owner know you are serious about making a deal.

I'm just throwing this out their...but..I would try trading Price and Berkman from Gonzalez. I don't see Berkman playing the way he is all year and Price is really in a slump this year. If he rejects that..then try Howard and either Ortiz or Youkolis for Gonzalez..he is really hot right now..

Would really appreciate help with these two..thanks

Highly doubt Berk and Price gets you a deal..... AGon might be the toughest to snare right now.

I'd be looking Howard (He'll have to be there)..... Youk would be other option as he'll want 1B back.

Grandy good idea. Price perhaps.... Bedard might be nice sell as well. Not sure get it done though.
