Pick up Wainwright or Strasburg?

Postby mcdablo » Thu Jun 16, 2011 12:23 pm

I'm in a keeper league and I am going to have Joe Mauer come off the DL. This is a keeper league with potential for a dynasty league, 12 person h2h w. standard cats. Should I pick up Wainwright or Strasburg? I can't decide. Strasburg will def. play next year on starting day but Wainwright is a 20 game winner and generally awesome. But I suppose theres a chance he starts the year on the DL.

Thanks for your help.

I would take Strasburg. I love Wainwright but he is going to take some time to get back in to his old self. It takes most TJ patients another year before they are back 100%. Plus Strasburg has unbelievable talent and the younger of the two which are big factors in a dynasty league.

My vote is Waino. He is the more experienced pitcher, pitches on a better team, and mentally may handle the rehab better than SS. Waino, according to STL pundits, is aiming for the minimum 12 months before he is healthy, and given his work ethic/resolve and the Cards willingness to let guys come back early or when they "say" they are ready, he could be there for the Cards next season on opening day. He is also the proven commodity, and I trust him to return to excellence quicker than SS. I love Strasburg, but I would rather have Waino.
