10 team dynasty league, keep entire 30 player rosters for as long as you want. (Greatly increases prospect's value!)
I'm stuck in 3-4th place because I'm not pitching any innings (fewest innings, wins and Ks in the league) and my power hitting (HR, RBI) and OF are not performing fully so far this season. 1250 innings cap, which at this pace I won't reach.
I'm considering the following trade:
Bryce Harper for David Ortiz, Dan Haren and Daniel Bard.
I've tried to get Ellsbury or Cliff Lee from this owner instead but he isnt budging. What do you think? I would drop Cuddyer and Eduardo Sanchez in the 3 for 1 deal. I love the idea of sticking Harper next to Braun in 1-2 years... but I want to win now also! Ortiz would bump into the Util slot, Haren into my #2 SP spot and Bard helps with Ratios and covers for Papelbon leaving at the end of the year. Saves are expensive in this league, due to innings cap.
Here's my current team:
C Olivo 1b Pujols 2b Utley ss alexei ramirez 3b Alex Rodriguez ci Miguel Cabrera mi Kelly Johnson of Ryan Braun of Angel Pagan of Brett Gardner util Michael Cuddyer
bench Eric Hosmer bench Matt Joyce bench Jayson Werth bench Carlos Beltran bench Jason Bay bench Neil Walker bench Bryce Harper bench Anthony Rendon
DL Mauer DL Allen Craig
Pitchers
Tim Lincecum Jhoulys Chacin Jordan Zimmerman Francisco Liriano Trevor Cahill DL Brett Anderson DL Adam Wainwright DL Homer Bailey
Papelbon Bell Wilson Hanrahan Sergio Santos Eduardo Sanchez
It's a lot to ask but could you post his roster?? It def doesn't seem like a bad deal because that's a ton to pay for Harper no matter how deep the league is but could you maybe get a bat a little younger than Ortiz?
Yah I was trying to make it Ellsbury instead of the current deal, but no dice.
I am also now discussing Harper for Cole Hamels and Adam Dunn with another owner. I like Cole much more than Haren, but that deal is missing the current pop of Ortiz and the 2012 closer in Bard...
Here's the roster from the first other team
C Russell Martin 1B Ryan Howard 2B Darwin Barney 3B Adrián Béltre SS Álex González CI Paul Konerko MI Maicer Izturis OF Jacoby Ellsbury OF Michael Bourn OF Johnny Damon Util David Ortiz BN Yunel Escobar BN Orlando Cabrera BN Justin Smoak BN Lonnie Chisenhall DL Jason Kubel
SP Dan Haren SP Cliff Lee RP Huston Street RP Kyle Farnsworth P Daniel Bard P Frank Francisco P Mark Melancon P Jonathan Sánchez P Brandon Morrow BN Julio Teherán BN Shelby Miller BN Chris Sale BN Johnny Cueto BN Brandon Lyon DL Jorge De La Rosa
With only 10 teams in the league + your very deep bench, I'd hang onto Harper. Ortiz is on his last legs while Haren isn't a spring chicken anymore. With as volatile as the closer position is, you'll always be able to pickup several guys each year to help you get saves. Seriously, a prospect driven dynasty like your league demands you get more Bryce.

Thanks for the feedback! What kinds of deals have you seen for Harper so far? Where do you think the benchmark for a good Harper deal would be?
As I said above, I'm also talking to someone about Cole Hamels and Adam Dunn. Good enough? Not enough?
I do want a top OF most of all, but those are hard to pry loose... and I know, I know, thats the very reason I own Harper!
I'm still considering this trade, and would really like some more feedback from you guys.
Would you rather do this trade, or try to work a Cole Hamels / Andrew Bailey for Harper deal? That one doesn't include the bat, but it provides a current closer that would let me flip a closer like papelbon for a bat (I'm leading saves by 10).
Basically my question is this: How much should a team get for Bryce Harper in order to pull the trigger right now?
