Start Hosmer or Rizzo?

Postby tommo » Mon Jun 13, 2011 2:16 pm

Currently in a 12 Team H2H Points league with one keeper (Players eligible if drafted in 6th round or later). Hosmer is facing three lefties this week and could potentially sit on Sunday against Jaime Garcia in place of Billy Butler since they won't have a DH. Rizzo has 5 out of 6 games against righties this week with 3 of them coming at Coors Field. What do you guys think?

My team:
C: Carlos Santana
1B: Joey Votto
2B: Daniel Murphy
3B: Ryan Zimmerman
SS: Hanley Ramirez
OF: Carlos Gonzalez
OF: Jose Bautista
OF: Andrew McCutchen
U: Eric Hosmer
Reserves: Domonic Brown, Anthony Rizzo, Yunel Escobar, Martin Prado

SP: Brandon Beachy
SP: Roy Oswalt
SP: Shaun Marcum
SP: Jaime Garcia
SP: Jhoulys Chacin
SP: Bud Norris
SP: Jordan Zimmerman
SP: Edinson Volquez
RP: Carlos Marmol

Don't overthink it. Go with the guy who has more (such as it is) of a track record in the majors.

I would probably go with Hosmer as he has shown pretty good consistency so far in the majors. Although it would be hard for me not to try Rizzo out in Colorado.

I have Tex and Votto, so can't take shot on my bench 1B Rizzo in Coors, but in your shoes, I would. Hosmer's been good but one series/couple games seeing if Rizzo can mash outside of Petco -- and he's been doing pretty well IN Petco in his limited ABs -- is worth the roll of the dice, I think.

If you don't play Rizzo in Coors, not much use in having him.

Agreed. Both could go off, but I'd play the Colorado card here.
