Lester for J.Upton? WHIR

I just got a trade proposal. I'm normally hesitant to give up the best player in the deal, but I'll admit I'm a little tempted by this one.

12 team 6x6 H2H league with weekly lineups (R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, OBP for hitting; QS, S, Ks, ERA, WHIP, K:BB for pitching)

It's hard to really answer without knowing where your team has struggled/been strong, but if I had to guess based on your roster, I'd say you need the pitching slightly more than you need the hitting?

I also wouldn't assume you're giving up the best player in the deal -- Lester can be lights out at times and was probably a top-5 pitcher in more than a few drafts this year. Given that you do get Chris Young back to offset the hit at OF at least a bit, I think I'd pull the trigger.

On offense my biggest issue so far has been AVG, and obviously this deal does help that. The loss in SBs doesn't hurt so much, since I'm basically lapping the field in that category right now.

My pitching started out pretty well, but the combination of Oswalt, Scherzer, and Cahill has been pretty terrible the last few weeks.

I was about to mention that. I have Oswalt and Cahill on my team as well and you could obviously use the pitching. Once HanRam is back (I have him too) your offense should be solid. Get Cahill off of your back and go for it.

I like this trade, but it will not help your AVG since Upton usually hits more for AVG then Chris Young does.

I would make this trade as well. I think you would be getting the best player in the deal in Lester.

DO it. Lester > Cahill and while Upton > Young, Young can absolutely rake in stretches and has nice speed, not THAT big a downgrade from Upton, whereas upgrade from Cahill to Lester is significant.

I think this is a great trade for you. Lester is leagues better than Cahill and Young really isn't too much of a drop off from Upton. He has been raking recently. Do it.

I would make this trade. Lester usually starts out slow and picks it up as the year goes. He is getting great run support and should be a top SP with K's and W's.
