Trade for Dunn? WHIR

Postby sigriffey » Mon Jun 13, 2011 10:02 am

Maybe the window has closed, but should I make an offer for Adam Dunn? What player/package would make sense to offer?

I can't think of a package, but as a Dunn owner I could suggest some possibilities and some insight. I shopped him quite a bit this week and especially yesterday after the 2nd HR in 4 days. Here's what happened(5X5 H2H)

All these were 1:1 deals unless otherwise noted.

Was offered:

1. LaPorta

2. Seth Smith

3. Bartolo Colon (pre-DL)

4. Scherzer/Brown for Dunn/Rios/Wandy

Was declined:

1. Ubaldo

2. Ian Kennedy

3. Danny Espinosa

4. Dunn/Rios for Scherzer/Brown

So there's a bit of an idea of where Dunn stands, the value is very low, and the trade water is warm. An owner is now gonna be happy to get something while he can for Dunn, or at least that's how I feel about him. Of the reasonable offers you could make me, here is how I would respond in 1-1 offers.

Accept:

Hosmer
Desmond
Brantley
Cahill

Decline:

Wandy
Dempster
Trumbo
D. Gordon

So, depending on how you value Dunn, that's how you might see another owner respond to offers. Hope that helps bud.

Thanks. I was considering offering Brantley for Dunn, but I dunno. Does it help me? I guess if I end up dropping Martin to activate Hanley then I can try offering Desmond for Dunn first. Will Dunn clog my utility or be a great buy low?

Well, if you can get him for Brantley I would do it......... If Dunn doesn't get it together you still bought low.

Yeah I think if you could do it for Brantley, you still bought low on him and could either gain from his potential and past averages or worse case, you gave Brantley away for free, which is not a huge deal IMO...good luck

help me?
