My first team

Postby drocto » Tue Mar 30, 2004 12:19 am

I draft my second team tomorrow. This is a 10-team H2H points league with scoring as such:

Pitching
W=10, S=10, IP=2, H=-1/2, BB=-1/2, ER=-1, K=1, CG=1

Batting
1B=1, 2B=2, 3B=3, HR=4, BB=1, R=1, RBI=1, SB=2

C: Ivan Rodriguez
1B: Kevin Millar
2B: Jeff Kent
3B: Hank Blalock
SS: Orlando Cabrerra
OF: Vladmir Guererro
OF: Carlos Lee
OF: Scott Podsednik
UTIL: David Ortiz

P: Matt Clement
P: Russ Ortiz
P: Carlos Zambrano
P: C. C. Sabathia
P: Mariano Rivera
P: Jason Isringhausen
P: Joe Nathan

Reserves:
C: Joe Mauer
3B: Sean Burroughs
3B: Vinny Castilla
SS: Bobby Crosby
P: Rich Harden
P: Jason Schmidt

Schmidt will start the season on the DL, which I don't see as reason to drop him yet; Harden will probably start in the minors, as with most 10-team leagues, there are plenty of pitchers availabe on the free agent market for if and/or when I find out about Harden for sure.

Thanks!

Rich Harden is currently listed as the #5 starter on the A's.

Thats a pretty nice squad, especially offensively. If nothing else, you could probably trade a little bit of offense for some pitching. Maybe a 2-1 or something, especially if you don't like having two guys from the same team (Millar and Ortiz).

Why are you carrying both Burroughs and Castilla??

They were the best people available in late rounds of the draft. Castilla was my 22nd round pick and Burroughs was 18th or 19th round. I'm carrying both mostly b/c I don't know which to stick with and I figure I can probably pick up someone as good or better on the free agent market when we figure out who's doing better a few weeks in. Also, I can trade one of them to someone who has an injury at a kind of thing position this year (although a lot more people are eligible at 3B than will actually play there regularly this year...

CBS Sportsline hasa news blip that has Harden going down to start the year and possibly being called up in a month or two... like I said, I think I'd like to hang on to him until I see what happens with that.
