Who can I get for Ortiz straight up?

Postby RobRob27 » Sun Jun 12, 2011 5:43 pm

I'm up 20 homers in a 15 team 5x5 mixed league. I'm sitting in first place by roughly 18 pts. I'd like to extend my lead by giving up some power for some speed, but I don't want to hurt my other cats.

So I'm looking for steals.

Would Ortiz for Ellsbury or Stubbs be worthwhile and provide an even exchange of value? Or am I expecting too much/too little?
I gruntle the disgruntled.

Those are 2 good guys to target, but I think you may be aiming a little high. I don't think you'll get them, but I'd certainly try. I think you're gonna end up looking at guys like Bourn or R Davis. But they won't help you in all cats. But they both dominate steals.

Basically Ortiz fills a UT spot, so it really depends on the other team and what they have. A lot of times teams aren't just looking for UT spots to fill because it's limiting and they could have other positional needs. If you could get Stubbs or Ellsbury for him I would do it.

Ortiz just went for Ubaldo Jimenez straight up in my league, if that helps at all.

Thanks for the input. I just offered Ortiz for Ellsbury. I doubt it will be accepted, but it's worth a try. What are the chances that Ortiz continues to produce at a decent pace? I do have Angel Pagan, but I could still use the steals.

I would also take Michael Bourn, who I think is underrated.

I just traded Ortiz and Anibal for Fielder and Melky if that helps, although my league seems to veto alot of trades so we will see
