Reynolds/Axford for Votto? WHIR

Postby mrbubs » Sun Jun 12, 2011 3:21 pm

I'm in a very shallow (9-team) 5x5 Roto league with OBP instead of AVG.

I'm getting Zimmerman off the DL next week, and I just got the trade offer of my Mark Reynolds and John Axford for his Votto. I would slot in Votto instead of Carlos Pena in the 1b/3b slot.

I'm currently in first place, but likely 2nd or 3rd once the relatively low innings cap kicks in. I'm currently in the top 3 in R, HR, RBI, 4th in OBP, and in the upper middle of the pack in the pitching stats. I'm #1 in saves - 10 more than #2- because i currently have 5 closers.

My Team:

C Arencibia (was Posey)
1B Miguel Cabrera
2B Rickie Weeks
SS Jimmy Rollins
3B Mark Reynolds
1B/3B Carlos Pena
OF Matt Kemp
OF Carlos Gonzalez
OF Colby Rasmus
OF Mike Stanton
UTIL Corey Hart (OF)
BN Kelly Johnson (2B)
DL Ryan Zimmerman (3B)
DL Ike Davis (1B)

P Justin Verlander
P Mat Latos
P Chad Billingsley
P Jeremy Hellickson
P Erik Bedard
P Chris Perez
P John Axford
P Jose Valverde
P Jordan Walden
P Kevin Gregg

This seems like a very good deal for me, even losing Axford's saves and Ks (he was hurting me in WHIP.) What do you think? Post a link and I'll try to return the favor. Thx.

Are you kidding? You take this NOW! I hope the other manager didn't change his mind while you were taking the time to type this out.

Thanks. I wanted a sanity check to make sure i wasn't missing something - injury?

The other guy actually has a decent amount of experience and in the past has done quite well in this league, so I wasn't sure I could trust my instincts that this was a no-brainer. Thanks again.

Agreed. No brainer even if you don't have a lead in saves. With the lead in saves, jump all over it.

And then scour the waiver wire for a potential closer.

Help with mine:

Thx for the help man

Uhm...yeh, no brainer. In fact, if you look in the dictionary under "no-brainer", it would say Reynolds/Axford for Votto.

Good luck mate!!

Even tho Brandon Lyon is struggling in his return...see if he is available on waiver for saves in the future...their manager did say he would eventually resume the closer role....maybe see if Venters is as well...should see save opps as well
