My Oswalt/Lohse/Polanco for Sheilds/Cahill

Postby Devil Doc » Fri Jun 10, 2011 2:50 pm

Curious if this is a smart move, I'll be relying on Moustakas being a solid player. ESPN has him immediately starting and barring anything crazy, should be for the remainder of the year. This would probably be a better upside for my pitchers. I think if I get these two guys, I should be set for the remainder of the season. Any thoughts?

Well, none of these guys are keepers for you IMO, and with that said I think you're upgrading your pitching and taking a reasonably calculated risk at 3B (which I think will pay off at least enough to make the pitching swap worth it BTW), so I'd do it. Oswalt isn't striking anyone out and I just don't think you can bank on Lohse for the whole rest of the season. Shields might come back to earth a bit more, but he still looks darned good and really quelled fears about a major regression after his disastrous start against the Mariners with a solid outing that went somewhat bad right at the end last night. Cahill is that much better than Lohse IMO, so I'd take the pitching upgrade and replace your replacement-level 3B with a guy with some more upside and run with it.

Hope this helps - care to return the favor?
