Must Drop 2 to activate Wandy and Hanley WHIR

Postby sigriffey » Fri Jun 10, 2011 11:21 am

I need to drop two players this weekend to activate Hanley and Wandy.

Candidates are:

Dee Gordon
Mark Trumbo
Russell Martin
Ian Desmond
Jed Lowrie
Brett Lawrie

I'd rather bite the bullet and continue to stash Lawrie.  I also like Dee Gordon for some reason but I dunno.  Thoughts?

I really like Dee Gordon as well, I like him even more that he plays SS for the Dodgers (whens the last time Furcal was healthy all season?). I would think Jed Lowrie, who has definitly cooled off since his hot start, and probably Desmond...you and I both have Ike Davis, and i'm still trying to figure out whether or not to hold on to him. With you now having Hosmer and Fielder, he probably is no longer an asset to you. I'd rank them in order who to drop first: Lowrie, Davis, Desmond.

I'm in the same boat as well, Please help with mine

The thing is... Ike Davis is on my DL and nit taking up a roster spot.

Alternately, o could try to ship off two guys in a two for 1 deal. Maybe russel Martin and Desmond or something.

Isn't Brett Lawrie on the DL right now too? Can't you put him in one of those slots instead of dropping someone?

I also like the idea of trading 2 for 1 better instead of just dropping them out right.

Unfortunately Lawrie isn't DL-able according to yahoo bc he's in the minors.

I'd drop Gordon and Lawrie. Gordon has blazing speed, but I can't say I was overly impressed watching him live for the first time last night. He won't keep the job over Furcal when he returns. As for Lawrie, he's a top prospect, but the broken hand means he won't contribute in the majors for a long while this season. Neither of these players are going to be keepers for you anyways, so I don't think it's bad to let them go (I can't imagine other teams in your league would keep them either with only six spots, unless they have absolutely horrid teams).

I wouldn't drop Martin or Trumbo. Any of the others is fine. Gordon only steals, so unless he gets on a lot, i see little value.

Dropping Jed Lowrie and Ian Desmond make sense neither have power and you have Hanley and Dee Gordon to mess with, there is no need for 4 SS guys. Trumbo offers some power at least and Brett Lawrie has the most upside of your bench.
