Extra SS/2B Worth Trading For Which of These Three Options??

Postby pmstick » Fri Jun 10, 2011 7:23 am

Please help me by recommending one of these option and/or choose which option is best. I like to back up all of my starters with quality reserves. With the return of Chase Utley I have an extra backup 2B/SS between Aaron Hill and Darwin Barney making each guy expendable.

OPTION ONE: Barney OR Hill for Morneau
An owner in my league needs the help at both 2B and SS so I offered him two separate one-for-ones involving them both.

Is Morneau a good buy-low option? I have Billy Butler already at the position and I am hoping Morneau can turn it around in time for the playoffs. Good move or is Morneau a lost cause?

OPTION TWO: Hill for Beltran
I also have an offer on the table of Aaron Hill for Beltran straight up which may help me more short-term to put in for a struggling Markakis.

OPTION THREE: Peralta for Homer Bailey
I'm in a league that rewards pitchers and Bailey has shown flashes of great stuff this year but seems very injury prone. I would need to find another backup for ARod and I currently have Peralta in my Flex position with the absence of Matt Holliday but Bailey has some upside at the most important position in our league.

This move would throw my lineup a bit out of wack giving me no ARod backup and still two 2B/SS backups. I could pull this and option 2 off and pick up an additional 3B (not much left on the WW: Alvarez, Aviles, C.Johnson)

If you can make either option one or two happen, I'd jump all over that. I know Morneau has struggled all season, but that looks like a tremendous buy low on him to me. Hill for Beltran is also a good deal for you.

Real good chance Morneau could be shut down by your playoff time, this neck thing isn't going to go away. Beltran seems like a good deal if he helps you now; tho I almost never carry backups just for the sake of having backups so we manage our teams differently. Hill isn't hitting for avg or power so getting a starter for you for him seems worthwhile.

Morneau is a good high risk/reward, but be prepared for a headache and a lot of DL/Injury time. Beltran wouldn't be a bad upside player either. Either guy is a better than a third 2B I think.

#2 Hill for Beltran was accepted.

I rejected #3 Peralta for Bailey, I'm keeping Peralta.

I picked up Cuddyer who was sitting on FA and offer #1 Barney for Morneau is still on the table.

Wow #3 came back by offering me Billingsley for Peralta. I accepted right away. Pitcher-heavy league that rewards Ks, CGs and SOs. Small problem is that I don't have a back-up for ARod so I'll be checking the waiver-wire.

After six trades here's what my team looks like in a 12-teamer. Sorry but I'm likin it :)
