I was thinking of offering a deal for Bautista. Maybe Cargo and another player. The other team involved loves Cargo. Whould you trade Cargo and someone(not someone big) for Bautista or should I just stick with Cargo. WHIR!
1b- Howard 2b- Phillips 3b- Beltre SS- Castro C- Santana OF- Braun OF- Cargo OF Adam Jones DH- Gaby Sanchez bench- Grady Sizemore, Peralta, Aramis Ramirez, Morse and Rizzo
SP- Lincecum SP- Haren SP- Hamels SP- Nolasco SP- Dan Hudson SP- Pineda RP- Soria RP- Salas RP- Gregg Bench- Aj Burnett, Wandy, Collmenter, Beachy
Idk man. Bautista is only a career .250 hitter, so the avg will be coming down for sure. His power is legit though. Cargo's avg should go up and he offers nice power/speed numbers. You're team looks good with power but lacking in the speed department. If you just want to punt SB's altogether and dominate the power stats then go for it. May not be a bad strategy. Only if you can dump a guy that ARam in the process or something. Or maybe sell high on Collmenter right now and see if he would chip in a SP.
I really don't think that you'd be able to acquire Bautista for just CarGo and Collimenter. Cargo is having a very slow year, so you'd be selling a slumping player for a very high price, a best-in-the-mlb-today price.
Yea but if I was to acquire him at that price would you do it? Is Bautista going to do this all year? Or is Cargo at the top of his game almost equal? this is a H2H points league. You get 2 pts for SB's. I also think that Cargo broke out last year and this could be his down year.
What you said is very true. Before last season, Cargo was like a 12th round draft pick. The same can be said about Bautista (well he probably wouldn't have even been drafted at all before last year), but he has continued into this season. He's having a HR slump at the moment, but he's still hitting over 300. CarGo just broke a 0/18 slump and earlier in the season, was bothered by some kind of injury (I forgot the specifics).
I think that in order to get Bautista, it basically means that you'd have to go over the top regardless of how he's playing at the moment. I own him in my league, and wouldn't even think about letting him go unless I was given an offer that I just couldn't refuse. I don't even think you need him anyway you have a lot of power potential on your lineup, I'd just stick with CarGo and hope he starts playing better.
Don't overbid at first though. Don't underestimate the power of the fan. If this guy really loves CarGo then he may be able to bend a little for his fav player. I've seen some pretty crazy trades go down just because a guy new a player or something. Hell I rostered Keith Van Horn till the day he retired, haha. Didn't have to trade for him though.
