Cuddyer or Espinosa? (WHIR)

Postby jpbusta » Thu Jun 09, 2011 9:05 am

As a 2b, who would you rather take?

I wasn't expecting the 25+ hrs from Cuddyer but his run/rbi production is also disappointing with Mauer/Morneau/Young not doing anything for the team.

Is it time to abandon ship and pick up Espinosa? I really don't like his ba but his power seems legit.

Opinions?

I have Cuddyer, and he stinks. He has a lot of 0-fers and his HR are often solo jobs because the team is missing it's biggest pieces. If Espinosa were available to me I would definitely take that shot. The flexibility is the only reason I keep Cuddyer around, with injuries and slumps it is nice to have that versatility, but if the guy is crap anyways the versatility is worthless. Espinosa may not hit .300 but it's reasonable to think he can hit .250 or so from here on in, and with his counting stats as they are, the .250 is not bad for a MI.

Espinosa has a lot more upside. Grab him over Cuddyer.

Definitely go with Espinosa, Cuddyer is basically worthless right now other then the fact that he plays multiple positions.

You could drop Cuddyer for Espinosa now, and when/if the Twins get healthy again, get Cuddyer later. I think hsi versatility is valuable, but probably only with those other guys around him. Espinosa has been owned in my league for awhile now, and I think its based off the fact the guys is got 10 dingers, 30 some RBI's and 20+ runs scored, all factors in our scoring. I think it will benefit you now for Espinosa, but later having Cuddyer might be more beneficial.

I agree with Devil Doc. Make the move but keep an eye on him. I doubt anyone will pick him up in the meantime the way that team is playing.
