I know nothing about baseball, so if someone could let me know where I'm strong and where I'm weak, I'd appreciate it.

Another player has offered to trade Mike Sweeny (1B), for Barry Zito (P). This seems like a good trade to me, but I'd like some input about it. Also, does anyone have suggestions for other trades I should make to strengthen my team?

Sweeney is nice, but he's not quite in Zito's class. Besides, what you really need is a hitter who will give you a bit more power than Sweeney. Trading Ichiro for a power hitter might be an option, but that depends on your scoring system...
