2B help (Uggla owner)...WHIR*

Postby StealingHome » Thu Jun 09, 2011 7:44 am

10-team H2H, 5x5 with OPS

I've been rotating guys at 2B with Uggla on my bench. How would you rank these replacements? Which would you stick with the rest of the season if fearing that Uggla doesn't come around?

Thanks! WHIR (as always)

Darwin Barney
Freddy Sanchez
Danny Espinosa
Alberto Callaspo
Ty Wigginton
Daniel Murphy

I like Espinosa myself. He gives you good power and good RBI production.

Yes. Espinosa is the clear guy from this group as he actually does everything well except hit for average. Barney ONLY hits for average, as does Sanchez. The other 3 are non-factors in the discussion. Go with some upside and roll and with Espi.

Thanks.

I watch the Nationals every now and then. I wish Espinosa and Desmond would show a little more patience at the plate. I guess Espinosa makes a good replacement with his similar power and low batting average.

Espinosa then Barney. Espinosa is the better option though for power.

I like Barney over Espinosa. Barney has 25 RBIs, on top of 30 runs, yeah he lack the power, but he's making up for that in BA. I think I'd take 3 of those stat categories vs Espinosa's. Just my opinion.

Darwin Barney, ChC SS, 2B
(69/227)
Runs: 30
HR: 1
RBI: 25
SB: 3
BA: .304

Danny Espinosa, Was 2B
(46/211)
Runs: 29
HR: 10
RBI: 33
SB: 5
BA: .218

Stats dont lie.

I guess it just comes down to what your needs are. Do you need more RBI's and HR's? or do you need AVG?

I think it really lies in HR's or BA. Barney may not be tearing the cover off the ball, but he's still getting you a decent number of RBI's, while NOT dropping down your overall BA. If you need the HR's, Espinosa would be better suited obviously.

It's tough because recently with Espinosa you are living and dying by the home run. Barney was in a mini slump recently but has still kept his average up. And he is hitting at the top of the lineup with some OK hitters behind him. Espinosa has been hitting more toward the bottom of the lineup. For me it's a tough call (hence this thread), but I like either of these options more than Uggla and Callaspo, whom I both currently own.

yea it depends if your trying to replace what uggla does then espinosa is the similar guy

but if your looking for the safest pick its collaspo

if your looking for the guy who could help you the most in the most stats its darwin barney

and freddy sanchez has like 70 hits he isnt gonna do much else but hes pretty safe as well
