Marcum/Jurrjens/Hosmer for Shields/Ogando/Quentin? WHIR

Postby JJGBPD » Thu Jun 09, 2011 2:14 am

I would be getting Shields, Ogando and Quentin. Pitching seems like a wash although I think overall Marcum is the best pitcher in the deal. I would use Quentin in utility spot over Hosmer for more pop. Thoughts?? Thanks!

Marcum is easily over Shields, not terribly close if you ask me.

Jurrjens vs. Ogando is close but I still give the nod to Jurrjens.

Hosmer to Quentin is an upgrade but nothing major, Hosmer looks pretty damn solid, while Quentin is a wildcard. Edge to you but only by a bit.

Overall it's only a mediocre trade, and one that I wouldn't do. You need a more proven arm if you are giving up Marcum, or someone that contributes in more than 2 categories, which is really all Quentin brings to the table.

Okay, so what about I give Marcum/Jurrjens and get Shields and Granderson?? It hurts my pitching, but I could always grab a Bud Norris, Brandon Morrow, Brian Matusz off waivers. I need SB and Granderson helps in atleast 3 categories... thoughts?

If you can handle the pitching loss, I like this deal much better than the first one posted. With some of the guys you posted available as well, you should be able to patch some solid starts together. ;-D

Ogando is no slouch. Shields is quietly having a solid season and Quentin is a beast, I'd do it.
Shields, Ogando and Quentin ;-D

I like the second deal, don't like the first deal at all. Especially with you saying the talent that is available in FA.
