MCab for Cargo + Dunn

Postby cs3 » Wed Jun 08, 2011 7:34 pm

tough decision for me here.
This H2H league allows 4 keepers, (any 4 players on my final roster with no penalties)
Im keeping Roy Halladay for sure.

Ive been offered the following trade:
My Cargo + Dunn for his MCab

I have solid lineup but a pretty significant lack of a legit HR bat since Dunn is completely useless. Cargo has totally underwhelmed this season, and is now batting leadoff again which hurts his value. But as the weather warms in Colorado i expect him to pick it up.

fwiw im in first place and the next closest team is the one who offered me the trade, and he is 13 games behind me. (im 18 ahead in my own div) so i dont necessarily need to make a panic move here.
and i definitely DONT want to make a move with the next best team that will give him an edge over me
my pitching is very good and has carried me through the injuries to my hitters

My Lineup:
C: J.P. Arencibia (C)
1B: Eric Hosmer (1B)
2B: Rickie Weeks (2B)
3B: Alex Rodriguez (3B)
SS: Starlin Castro (SS)
OF: Rajai Davis (OF), Jacoby Ellsbury (OF), Carlos Gonzalez (OF)
Util: Curtis Granderson (OF)
BN: Michael Cuddyer (1B,2B,3B,OF), Adam Dunn (1B)
DL: Matt Holliday (OF), Buster Posey (C,1B), Tsuyoshi Nishioka (2B,SS)

I will still have Holliday, Ellsbury, Granderson, and Davis in my OF.
My keepers will be looking like Halladay, Mcab, Ellsbury plus 1 of
Hosmer, Holliday, or Pineda.

what do you think? is this something i need to accept ASAP before he changes his mind, or wait til Holliday is healthy and then make a decision?
or???

leave me a link and ill help you out with your qustion ;-D

Um Cargo is a fantasy stud and that's overpaying. Don't give up on Dunn just yet. Mcab is a beast yes, but you have a good young team and shouldnt' give up your most proven bat.

With you having that big of a lead in your league, I don't see any reason to pull the trigger on this trade right now. Like you said, Gonzalez will heat up with the summer in Colorado, and Dunn's value is the lowest it can be, so why toss him now. I see both of those guys only being able to go up.

turns out he changed his mind on Dunn.
discussion still in the works, but its looking like he wants a draft pick + Cargo.

I think Mcab outproduces him in every category besides stolen bases, but Cargo is younger and still has tremendous upside and room to improve his power output.
however i disagree that Gonzalez is my "most proven bat". He has proven he has the ability to be a top 5 player, but not shown that he has the consistency of a Miggy, Pujols, Holliday, Gonzales etc
this is one of the harder decisions Ive had to make.

Hold with Cargo. No point in trading superstar for superstar when yours is younger and 5 cats and his is older and fatter and only 4 cat abilities. Granted, he is really damn good at those 4, but Cargo is the kind of guy to keep for 10 years.

^^^ he said it best. If you are in a keeper league then you should hold on to Cargo. He has arguably the best potential of any keeper in all of MLB. You do not want to lost that and then have to watch him 2 years from now playing amazing on someone else's team.

help with mine please:
