Lilly for Walker WHIR

Postby Frappy » Wed Jun 08, 2011 1:44 pm

Hello there,

The league is a 12-teamer H2H with a point system that slightly favors hitters. Despite some troublesome injuries, I was able to stay active enough on the wire to make a couple of good additions; because of this (and with a little luck as well) I stand with a current 7-2 record, and am tied for first in my division. I just dealt Russell Martin for Chris Carpenter in hopes of now being able to deal one of my top pitchers for some good offensive production while having some solid pitching to lean back on. So far, I've been pretty unlucky with this. I do, however, have a pretty decent offer on the table. I could offer Ted Lilly to another team for his Neil Walker. They cost the same, and I would be able to drop the headache that is Brian Roberts (no pun intended). What do you think?

C- J.P. Arencibia ($10/102 points)
1B- Miguel Cabrera ($39/215)
2B- Allen Craig ($8/94)
3B- Aramis Ramirez ($24/108)
SS- Jose Reyes ($25/218)
OF- Andrew McCutchen ($28/175)
OF- Jacoby Ellsbury ($27/191)
OF- Carlos Beltran ($17/158)
U- Eric Hosmer ($0/80)
B- Chipper Jones ($13/133)
B- Anthony Rizzo ($0/0)
B- Dee Gordon ($0/0)
DL- Brian Roberts ($25/93)
DL- Joe Mauer ($27/12)

P- Zack Greinke ($22/70.50)
P- Yovani Gallardo ($17/148)
P- Michael Pineda ($10/157)
P- Gio Gonzalez ($12/127)
P- Jeremy Hellickson ($16/130.50)

B- Wandy Rodriguez ($18/98)

Add on--

I assume it wouldn't be much worse if I had to add on Jordan Lyles? I don't believe his chances of sticking around after the weekend are too high anyway.
He also has an open DL slot, so I could maybe offer Roberts instead of Lyles with the hopes that he can just stash him. Still, I'm pushing for the straight up 1 for 1.

Keep Roberts stashed. I'd jump all over that deal for Neil Walker. A cheap unheralded 2b. He's got a potential to go 280/30/90 for the year (think Uggla on a good year). Cheap too? Go for that. Lilly can easily be replaced with a FA contract equal or slightly lesser than what you did. You can go get a Colon, Garcia, Vogelsong etc type as an equal replacement.
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be!

Thanks,

I'll have to keep talking to this guy, but it's looking good. I don't know about Brian Roberts anymore though -- I'd love the roster + cap space, and I'd doubt Roberts would end up playing ahead of Walker, so he may even be a droppable player for me.
