Edwin Jackson, one last time...

Edwin Jackson - Starting Pitcher - Dodgers Mar. 29 - 7:45 pm et

Edwin Jackson could be on his way back to the minors after giving up four runs and nine hits in four-plus innings today.
Jackson pitched well over the first four innings, allowing just a wind-aided home run by Abraham Nunez. However, things unraveled in the fifth and it now appears likely that he'll head to Triple-A Las Vegas for the start of the year.

Is he worth holding on to until that time comes? When does everyone think that time is? I want him to pitch now... :~( :~( :~(
It's like I've died and gone to heaven......but then they realized that it wasn't my time, so they sent me to a brewery.

This is disheartening for those of us who were expecting him to be the Dodgers' fifth starter. Who does that leave in that spot? Alvarez? I have to believe Jackson will be back up by early June in some capacity.

Does this make you wonder if he has taken over Odalis Perez's place as trade bait for a hitter?

I dropped him in our keeper league before the draft. Had to clear salary. I decided to hold onto Claussen and Harang (who could help this season). :-t

Rototimes also mentioned that they may keep him in the majors since the #5 starter is only going to make a few starts until mid-May (they can skip the #5 starter).

That would mean a 4-man rotation and the 5th one (in need) could either be Jackson, Lima or Alvarez. But whoever it is, chances are they will only get 3 starts in the month of April.

That being the case, they could send Jackson down to AAA to get him about 5 starts and use Alvarez & Lima in the bullpen AND rotation, then call Jackson up if he looks ready in May.

According to the cbs sportsline player updates Tracy has re-affirmed Jackson as his fifth starter, though that does seem a little dubious given their schedule and the golden opportunity to warm him up in the minors.

I have him in a 14 man league and am holding onto him, partly because the free agent alternatives stink but also because I'm 100% sure that he'll get his chance before too long. However, I now regret dropping Lima for Chris Carpenter.

Take a breath fellas... Don't get ur panties in a knot....

News: Manager Jim Tracy told the Orange County Register that Jackson, despite his poor spring performances, will remain the Dodgers' fifth starter.
Fantasy Spin: So he won't be sent to the minors after all. However, we must wonder how many starts he'll get in that role. Tracy could elect to skip him often based on days off and matchups. He's still a sleeper, but not one you should count on heavily.

Time to see if Jackson really is the next Doc Gooden. I'm taking a chance on him this year, but i'll be crossing my fingers every outing :-o
