Hanley+ for Crawford+ WHIR

Postby Urban Cohorts » Mon Jun 06, 2011 11:58 am

5x5 Yahoo H2H League. We use standard positions plus CI,MI,OF. We run 5 SP, 5 RP, with a 6 man bench.

I was just offered my C Crawford LF + N Walker MI for his H Ramirez SS and J Masterson SP

Ramirez would take over as my MI (not my SS), Crawford would be replaced by Lind at LF, and Lind would be replaced by either C Allen / P Alvarez at DH. So it comes down to Hanley replacing Crawford and Allen/Alvarez replacing Walker.

Masterson would be added to my staff (which does need some help). My staff currently has 2 elite guys in Felix and Kershaw. The other SP include Bedard, Lackey, Porcello, Billingsley, Wolf, Humber, and D Hudson.

The other manager said he is willing to wait until Hanley comes back from his upcoming DL trip before making the trade.

Am I getting good value here, IE will Hanley revert to elite levels (like Crawford has been doing as of late). Should I ask for a better pitcher (CJ Wilson, J Garcia, or S Marcum)?

Need advice badly, WHIR!

I don't like this trade at all. Masterson is coming back to earth now.... I wouldn't trust Hanley at all. 1/3 of the season gone, and he hasn't shown anything, not even a glimpse of hope. Out of those three pitchers the only one I would even consider is Marcum. If you are confident that Hanley will bounce back then it's a fair trade if you can get Marcum. Otherwise, I would pass.

The way Hanley is playing it's a no go. Masterson really doesnt bring a whole lot to the table, and Walker is a superb 2B. Crawford and Hanely are generally close in value, although this season Crawford has the edge so far. You lose on both sides of the deal, so I wouldn't take it.

If you don't need a SS then I'd pass. Crawford is just getting warmed up in Boston and hard to trust Hanley at this point.
