My Hellickson/J.Johnson/Axford for Stanton/Putz/Moustakas

Postby Devil Doc » Sat Jun 04, 2011 10:49 am

10 Team Keeper league (Keep 6, no limit of length of keepers)

His original trade to me was Pineda/Axford/Johnson for Stanton/Mous/Putz, but I have a hard time letting go of Pineda with how good he's been so far.

Would either be a good trade?

UPDATE:

He said he'd pull the trigger on my counter if I added Hosmer and he'll add Kubel...

So the trade would look like this:

My J.Johnson,Hellickson, Hosmer, Axford for Stanton, Moustakas, Putz, Kubel.

With the additions of the trade, today my keepers would probably be:

Stanton, AGonz, Morse, Quentin, Pineda, Oswalt and maybe Mous instead of Oswalt depending on how well he does....pull the trigger?

I love stanton as a keeper, but I think you're giving up too much here. I'd try to hold on to one of hellickson or johnson, and grab stanton in a smaller two for one deal.

help me out...

Thanks for your help on mine. Hmmm. Complex trade. Let's see.
Pineda
Axford
Johnson
for
Stanton
Mous
Putz

Stanton's a good player, and Mous is a good keeper (potentially), but giving up the combination of Pineda and Johnson is too much for me. What are you trying to accomplish?

I agree with the other poster that you're giving up too much here. I love Stanton and Moustakas, but I prefer Hosmer to either of them. I own all 3 players in my keeper league and of the 3, Hosmer is the one I'm going to ensure I keep. Likely Moustakas is last in that list. Josh Johnson is an ace and I also love Hellickson. He looked great again today, don't sell him short. I think you are better off standing pat.

Thanks for the help on mine!

I need some more power in my lineup, and instead of Pineda (who I've deemed untouchable) its Hellickson instead. I'm not losing much for Axford with gaining Putz, i think they are about equal. Johnson's injury will no longer be a worry for me, and Hosmer wouldn't be a keeper for me anyway, and highly doubt that the guy asking for him will either. Kubel has been hitting well, and may be traded before July on a struggling Twins, and Stanton and Mous are both younger guys who have shown solid power.

To me the trade really breaks down to Hellickson/Johnson for Stanton/Moustaka, and I think I win in this trade. Wandy Rodriguez, and Bud Norris are FA and could pick them up for losing two pitchers.

No way I do the original trade. Now you want to give up Hosmer for Kubel on top of it? Your pitching can't take this kind of hit. In a keeper, I would rather keep Johnson and Hellickson over Oswalt. And keeping Morse over Ellsbury? That would be a head scratcher for me too. Putting a lot of faith in Moustakas for two proven pitchers and a rookie that has shown he can hit in the bigs.

I'm trying to find a way to like this deal, but aside from Stanton, I'm not seeing it. Maybe you can deal one of your arms for Stanton straight up.

I thought you were giving up a lot originally! Adding Hosmer to the mix obviously didn't help my opinion of the deal. I say hold off.

Thanks for your help on my Ichiro/Asdrubal question.
