Man the SS crop is pretty bad this year. What's worse is that unless my research is wrong, there doesn't seem to be any prospect help this year on the way getting called up. Machado, Green, and Iglesias seem to all be September call ups at best.
I'm stuck with my revolving door at SS, currently filled by Alex Gonazalez.
It's been a tough year for SS. In my 10 team keeper, I have Hanley, who's generally sucked. In my 20 team keeper I have Lowrie, but then with Roberts out I had to move him to 2B and have WW filler in there. IN my 16 teamer redraft I have Furcal, who's been riding the DL all season, and have had to make due with Pennington, who's actually been serviceable but not getting the steals I was hoping for. And in my 30 team league I have Peralta playing SS who's been great, and I also have Theriot (2B) and Carroll (UT) who can play there and they've been doing reasonably well. I just traded Carroll for Freddy Garcia straight up.
What about Ian Desmond? I know his average is low but hes now batting at the top of what looks to be a pretty studly Nationals lineup with Morse, Zimmerman coming back and Werth. He also has 17 stolen bases with only 2 caught stealings. Thats 15 NSB! in my NSB league thats pretty tits. I like Ian Desmonds upside over alot of these other scrubs.

What makes you think that? All of his numbers that are keeping him even in the top 15 came pretty much in a three week span. I hope you are right because I have to go with him in two leagues but I don't have the same optimism as you do.

On top of that a number of SS are playing way over their heads so in reality the SS pool is worse than it looks~.

I'm with urban. When he's been healthy, he's proven he can hit MLB pitching with decent authority. Thinking he will break out of his doldrums soon as Scutaro will come up and steal some AB's. Jed will get his legs back and be reinvigorated by the competition.
Jed Lowrie is aweful, he doesnt even belong int he discussion int he top 15 and maybe 20. He doesn't steal bags, doesn't hit homers, and bats for garbage average. Not to mention he bats in the bottom half of the order with scrubs like Varitek. He seriously is worthless, he is a 0 tool player.

I think you're in LF. He's hitting .292 and he averages one R+RBI in every game while playing SS. I agree that almost everyone got caught up in the hype early this season because he doesn't have a lot of power and he doesn't run. But he's still a .280+, 80 R, 10+ HR, 80 RBI and 3-5 SB SS. That puts him in my top 15 instead of the various garbage out there at SS.
