Is this a crazy lopsided trade? WHIR

I Have a couple of guys on the DL that are coming off soon so I need to make room. I offered this guy who needs saves REALLY badly Hellickson/Liriano/Crow for his Halladay. Is Halladay worth much, much more than this?

Halladay is great, don't get me wrong. But you're giving up an awful lot just to get him. I don't know if I'd do that deal. But then again, who doesn't want Halladay? You have the depth.

Halladay is worth more than that. If I were receiving that package, it would be a quick rejection. If you really want to get him by trading away excess, you'll probably have to overpay.

At the very least, you'll need to send a more established closer (Marmol?), a better SP (Oswalt?), and something else.

Thats what I thought too, but then I wasn't so sure anymore when I looked closer.

Hellickson has been the #5 prospect in all of baseball for awhile and throughout his last 3 starts he's pitched GREAT. Now I am not denying Halladay's greatness by any means, but during his last few starts he's given up between 3-4 runs each game and against teams that shouldn't be scoring them on him (ex Washington).

Since his no-hitter, even though Liriano hasn't been GREAT, he's definitely improving (as shown by the game where he threw 8 innings and allowed only 1 ER). Hell, this 15 days of rest might be very good for him.

When it comes to Crow, I think that he would benefit the other person because the only closer that he has is Street, and thats it. It also appears that he is not going with the no-closer strategy because he isn't trading him away.

Hellickson is having a decent year... but he'll be more valuable in the future.
Liriano... too inconsistent.. he's a gamble, he can be great or he can be horrible
Crow... Soria is too good to sit on the pine for too long...

If I had Halladay, I would want more than that. But, if he's wanting saves, this might not be too bad. I still think it's underpaying.

If I was going to trade Halladay for three, and I only had one closer, I would push for one SP to replace Halladay plus two closers to solidify my saves.

So, I'd offer Hellickson (potentially very good) + Crow (iffy on keeping the job) + one established closer for Halladay.

If he takes the deal you have on the table, laugh yourself silly. But if he doesn't, it might take 2 closers. If he's smart, that's what he'll push for.
