Too Many Closers. Who do I drop?

Postby SoTaguchi » Thu Jun 02, 2011 2:40 pm

I've got four closers, and need to drop one. The question is who?

The closers are Jose Valverde, Andrew Bailey, Leo Nunez, and Ryan Madson. Valverde was the highest ranked going into the season. Bailey is finally heathly and pitching, should be closing soon. Nunez leads the league in saves. Madson has been lights out for the Phillies. I'd rather trade one, but closers are a dime a dozen in this league. So I'll drop one.

Thanks for any input.

Are you sure that you don't have any lower-end starters or bench players to deal? Bailey was the rookie of the year two years ago I believe.

My starting pitchers are Halliday, Marcum, Nolasco, Cueto, Matusz, Ogando. I'd rather drop one of my four closers. Maybe someone would take a trade for a closer, but doubtful.

I would try to deal one first, but if you cant I would drop Madson. He hasn't blown a save yet, but has given up four runs in his last five innings. Plus he could lose save chances or the whole job to Lidge and/or Contreras once they come back.

Please help with mine:

Im in the same boat, i don't have the same quality of closers but i have Putz, Feliz, Storen and now Crow (also have Soria)

I'm trying to piece together a nice 2 for 1 to grab an elite bat or arm... im trying to sell Dunn and any of the closers mentioned... to get something like Tex, Fielder, Kinsler, etc.

Sent out trade offers to different teams. Sent Nunez and Madson for Oswalt. Same two for Sherzer. Same two for Cain. All three of these starting pitchers are currently struggling so maybe I can snag one of them (buy low). Also sent Nunez, Madson, and Stubbs for Crawford. Any thoughts on these offers sent?

They might would rather have a pitcher and a closer then just two closers. Unless the team you are trading with has no closers at all.
